Reading Work

Read

Additionally, take some time to explore the Library. The Book of Fencraft is cluttered and chaotic, navigable only by the bold and the foolish. One goal of these lessons is to give newcomers a clue for how to explore it all without becoming overwhelmed.

The Library is a repository of written, sonic and visual weird - in other words, the raw materials sought during Reading. It is the ideal place to rummage for Readings of your own.

Get

Think about simple organisational structures which record or motivate Reading! A book blog, a notes app, a notebook etc

Do

Reflect

  1. What is your favourite myths or fantasy fiction? What did you love as a child? What lore and stories first made you want to become a Pagan?
  2. The Practices teach our values. What lessons and values have you discovered in Reading?

Test

Attempt by memory, then look up if you found remembering it difficult. If you like writing, answer in your own words in your Mirror Book or blog. You have passed the test when you can answer these questions by memory (unless memory is a particular challenge for you, in which case set a test you can meet)

  1. What is Reading?
  2. Make a list of keywords associated with the Lunar
  3. List 3 ways of “Reading” which don’t include a novel
  4. What are the purpose(s) of Reading?

Pass Out

As an absolute minimum, you must have a list of things you intend to Read (however short!), made a plan or commitment for regularly doing it, and have begun on one item. Then you may move on to the next chapter: On Disconnection.
